Policies, Practices, Conditions of Sale

Our puppies are born and raised with lots of love in our home.

We do not feel it necessary to push our puppies out the door. Since we follow Dr. Jean Dodd's vaccination protocol, puppies receive their first vaccination at nine weeks and they are not allowed to leave until they are ten weeks old. By keeping them until this age they are taught some manners by their mother, and they learn to socialize with their brothers and sisters and go through their first fear stage together. They are allowed to play in the grass and learn to potty outside which makes them easier to housebreak when they go to their new homes.

Puppies will have had the vaccinations which are appropriate for their age at the time of delivery. Each puppy/dog goes home with a health record, pedigree, photos of both parents, a collar and leash, toys, and a supply of the food it is accustomed to eating.

Tails and dewclaws are no longer docked.

All puppies are continually observed and their temperaments noted in order to better match puppy to purchaser. In order to make the best possible match of puppy to purchaser and to determine if the responsibility of owning a standard poodle is understood, all prospective purchasers will be interviewed.

Although we prefer that you choose your Sunridge Poodle in person, it is not absolutely necessary. No matter how the selection is made, all puppies/dogs are personally delivered by a member of the staff of Sunridge Poodles in order to introduce the puppy/dog to its new environment and entire family. This is especially important for older puppies and adults as it makes the transition easier for them.

Travel expenses incurred during delivery are in addition to the purchase price. A deposit is required to 'hold' a Sunridge Poodle. Deposits are not refundable under any circumstance, and are not accepted on unborn puppies.

All companion puppies/dogs are sold on spay/neuter contracts with Limited AKC registration. If you are interested in showing or breeding, please contact us.

We feel our prices are very reasonable and fair but also understand the difficulties of this hard economy. We are happy to work with approved homes whenever possible. Discounts are available for active military, veterans, first responders, senior citizens, repeat customers, and to families with disabled/handicapped individuals.

Sunridge Poodles reserves the right of first pick on all litters. Purchasers of show prospects have pick over purchasers of companion puppies. Placement of a Sunridge Poodle is at the sole discretion of Sunridge Poodles and Sunridge Poodles reserves the right to deny any puppy/dog to any home for any reason.

Occasionally adolescents or adults are available. Older adolescents and adults will have already been through the very active puppy stages and their personalities are easier to observe as well. When placed in a new home an adolescent or an adult will generally go through an adjustment period which can vary from as little as a day or two to as much as a month or two therefore patience and understanding are a must!

Sunridge Poodles are covered by two guarantees: a general health guarantee at time of purchase and a lifetime guarantee against debilitating genetic defects such as heart murmur, epilepsy, deafness, blindness, and hip dysplasia.

Sunridge Poodles does not support the cross-breeding of poodles to any other breed therefore all contracts have a provision prohibiting it.

Since poodles DO NOT shed they require professional grooming at least every 6 weeks which can cost anywhere from $75.00 up depending on your location. In between being professionally groomed, your poodle will need to be bathed and brushed and combed to the skin regularly to prevent matting and its ears should be checked daily and cleaned as needed. The hair in the ear canal should to be plucked regularly to help prevent ear problems and this can be done when it is professionally groomed.

Sunridge Poodles may not have puppies or adults available all the time, however a good poodle is worth waiting for. If you would like to be placed on a waiting list for a Sunridge Poodle, please send an email stating your preferences along with your name, address and telephone numbers. As soon as a Sunridge Poodle fitting your preferences becomes available, we will let you know. However if you can't wait for the perfect Sunridge Poodle, we may be able to refer you to another reputable poodle breeder. If you are willing to settle for just any poodle, that is exactly what you will get - just any poodle!

"Pukka's Promise, the Quest for Longer Lived Dogs" by Ted Kerasote is an excellent book which I highly recommend for any dog owner - and all purchasers of Sunridge Poodles are required to read it.

Any purchaser unable to keep or properly care for a poodle purchased from Sunridge Poodles is to return it to Sunridge Poodles for re-homing.
